Mayo Clinic in Rochester gives more than $500,000 in community grants in last quarter of 2023 

Mayo Clinic in Rochester supported a wide variety of community building initiatives with more than $500,000 in donations during the fourth quarter of 2023 through the Community Contributions Program. The contributions to area nonprofits will help address mental health, health disparities, health care access, education, youth enrichment, human services, diversity and inclusion and community vibrancy in Olmsted County. Through its community investments Mayo Clinic strives to address identified community health needs, close health disparity gaps, advance equity, diversity, and inclusion, and increase social and economic vibrancy.  

Highlights include:    

  • Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota to help operate the Rochester Community Warming Center for residents experiencing homelessness during the winter months. 

  • Rochester Nonprofit Consortium to host a wellness event for area non-profit workers. 

  • Family Promise of Rochester for programs that support families experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. 

  • Legal Assistance of Olmsted County (LAOC) to provide free legal services to people living in poverty in Olmsted County.  

  • Somali Community Resettlement Services of Olmsted County for vaccination and health education outreach to East African, Latino, and Afghan communities. 

  • Somali American Social Service Association to provide education, health and wellness, small businesses development, and women’s empowerment programs to the Somali community. 

  • EA Therapeutic Health (formerly Exerciseabilites, Inc.) to expand access to physical rehabilitation and therapy services for people living with physical disabilities or chronic health conditions and are in financial need.  

  • The Landing to provide a daytime shelter, advocacy and supportive services for people experiencing homelessness in Olmsted County. 

  • Minnesota Health Occupations Students of America for programs that nurture academic achievement and interest in the health professions among diverse high school students across Minnesota.  

Mayo Clinic reviews and awards community grants on a quarterly basis. Our next deadline for grant requests of more than $5,000 is February 28, 2024. Grant requests of $5,000 or less are reviewed on a continuous basis. Learn more about Mayo Clinic’s Community Contributions program.
